Granny's Pumpkin Pie Revealed

Oh how I miss my Granny this time of year.  I grew up a skip hop away from her back door and planted my own family a door over from her.  One thing I miss most are her phone calls to tell me she had food cooked that someone needed to come eat.  We would head straight over and sit around her table while she watched us eat.  It was always delicious.
My favorite time of year has always been Thanksgiving.  My Granny always made the dressing for the turkey with homegrown sage. She also made the most amazing pumpkin pie.  I'm not usually a fan of just any pumpkin pie but this one is by far the best I've ever had and I'm excited to share it with you

One day I needed a recipe for pumpkin pie.  I was supposed to make one for a church Thanksgiving dinner.  I called her up and she told me to come find it.  She handed me the book you see above.  She said, "This was my momma's cookbook.  It's in there." I carefully opened it, found it, and wrote it all down.  As I was writing it down, I looked for any clue that was left as to what book this was because I wanted to see if I could find one for myself, and I did.

This is hands down the best cookbook I have ever used.  Every single recipe turns out amazing.  As luck would have it, I found it on eBay.  Those people selling it had no idea what they had their hands on.  Pure gold this one, and was first printed in 1959 and apparently had been 12 years in the making, according to the first page and in 1959 these recipes were mostly considered "old fashioned".  If you ever get your hands on this book, your cooking life will change forever.

Tucked inside my Granny's copy of the book are many, many pages of additional recipes.  I love to cook and when I have the opportunity, I love trying some of these recipes.  Some of the handwritten ones are older than I am and have, in my opinion, have the most beautiful stains and are extremely fragile..  So below I'm posting the recipe for the amazing Pumpkin Pie and if you happen to make it and love it, please let me know.
