Sometime in early September of last year my husband got the great idea we should get a bread maker and start making our own bread, we would eat less and eat healthier.  He was absolutely correct.  I found a Breadman Bread Machine at Goodwill for $9.99 and took a chance on it.  I brought it home and started looking for instructions online and recipes that were within the "beginner: anyone can do this" range.  Still there were tweaks I had to make but now I can throw all my ingredients in and push a few buttons and before we know it we have fresh baked bread.  The yummiest ever!

Bread Machine Recipe
(the easy way)
Start with the wet ingredients first.  Put them all in the bottom of the mixing chamber.
1 large egg
2 tbs of honey
1/2 cup of warm milk
1/2 cup of warm water
3 tbs of softened butter
Now pile the dry ingredients on.
2 tsp of salt
2 level cups of bread flour
1 level cup of whole wheat flour
2 1/4 tsp of rapid rise yeast.
All of the above dry ingredients can be portioned out in zip top baggies so you only powder up your kitchen once every 1/2 dozen loaves or so.  I also recommend refrigeration or in a air tight container while storing.

Place the bread baking/mixing chamber in the machine: lock and load.
Rapid Rise & Wheat means 2 things...
1. It will rise big.
2. It will require a little extra cooking.
3.  That's not a good combo sometimes but here's what to do.  Because sometimes it will rise to big for the machine.
Use the Rapid Bread setting and the Medium Baking Control.
Set and Wait
It's so awesome to have bread as a treat and that I have complete control over what goes in it.
You can play around with different flours based on gluten tolerance.
We actually love the high gluten white flour but some families may be avoiding gluten all together.
Let me know if you try it and how it turns out.
