Every year I take a day early in January to organize my first aid kit for the year. Once you have a well stocked first aid kid it is easy to maintain. To get started you can buy a ready to go kit or gather items you already have and put them all in one place. I like using a tackle box because of all the dividers and you can use any size you see fit. You can even use small ones to keep in your car. Years ago I created a little check list of some of the most important items to have on hand. You can download that checklist at the bottom of this post and keep it handy in your kit for future use. This first aid kid has seen some pretty scary wounds and some pretend ones too. Sometimes a band aid just makes everything better and sometimes the injury can be so severe you just stare at the box waiting on the first item you need to just jump out at you. When we first moved into our camper in August of 2018 I made sure our kit was stocked well for any and all minor cuts and scrapes. We had one incident shortly after we moved that required an ER visit. This handy dandy little kit stays stocked up with essentials. One of my goals for the next year is to stock some essential oil based remedies too. I have a few in the box. My favorite is the one from Esther Paul Apothecary for minor boo boos. It's like a little bottle of magic. The fact that a friend made it for us also means the kids love it when I pull it out. As you can see it's kind of a mess and just needs to be straightened up. I also need to take note of any items we may be missing so I can restock. Check the expiration on ointments and creams There. Much better. Below you will find a first aid kid list I made a long time ago. I hope it helps you as you get started on organizing your first aid kit. I will now put this kit in the same place I keep it all the time so my kids never have to guess where it might be. Below are examples of kits from the past I put together and hung in our pantry for easy access.
