Make your own seaside inspired necklace with shell beads and leather.
I am a lover of costume jewelry. I would say I have a little of my Granny in me when it comes this stuff. It's so fun to dress up a simple black dress in countless ways with just jewelry. Being that most of my wardrobe consists of black, grey, black, and tan I get to have a lot of fun with different styles of jewelry.
I have been looking for a necklace like the one above in stores but haven't found the one I was wanting. Today I took my coupon to the local craft store and bought some glass pearl beads and a leather cord. I wanted to make sure I had different colored pearls because I own 2 pair of pear earrings, ivory and black. Plus...I love the black ones best.
Start by folding your cord in half. This is a 2 yard cord. Then, tie a little not to make a loop big enough for the pearl beads to slide there. Then slide one pearl down 1 strand of leather. If you have trouble getting the bead to string, use a paperclip to open up the holes.
Before and after each pearl you will want to make a knot using both strands. Gage your pearl distance with a ruler or in my case, I used the packaging from the leather cord. Keep going until you have 4" of cording left. And you will string your beds on each end.
