For God so loved... - John 3:16 Head: As mothers, our children look up to us for safety, love, authority, and trust. They find confidence in knowing we are watching to applaud and even to keep them within the boundaries of what is safe. Our children look to us when there is any question of what is right and wrong, it is part of our job as mothers to guide them and show them the way; to navigate this life. There was a time, prior to Christ, that the world saw our God as One that is strict, with an eye of disapproval and a hand that punished. God was considered an outright tyrant. Even today, those who don't know Him, still believe this about Him. That is why the message of love is so important to share. We can not earn His love because He loved us first. God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 Heart: "God so loved". During a recent Sunday school lesson, the word "so" was brought to the forefront. I wrote, as a side note, "show the so". My heart fluttered and I hope yours does too with what is held in that tiny, two letter word...SO. Jesus wanted "so" badly for us to understand the depth of love that God has for us that He started off this scripture with a small but powerful word. God not only loved us, but he loved us SO much, He shows us. Right away, our Lord is taking action first. He isn't waiting on us to prove we are worthy. Our children deserve for us to teach them this truth. Not only from the Word, but from our own actions. Out of 31,103 verses in the Bible, this one truth that "God so loved us" should be evident in our daily walk and talk as mothers. Do you consider John 3:16 your mom mission? If not, what if you did? We aren't just introducing our children to a loving God. We are introducing our children to a God who SO loves. Just as God was willing to wrap Himself in flesh and walk with us in all or our mess, we should also be willing to step out of our comfort zones and show our children they are SO loved; not only by us as mothers, but also by their Heavenly Father. The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12 Hand: The question is...How? First, we have to turn our children back over to the One who created them, breathed life into them, and will carry them through anything in this life that we cannot. They belonged to Him long before He trusted our children to us. Next, we must pray for God to help us SO love our children. It is not always in us to love sacrificially but it is the kind of love that is the SO kind of love. What are we willing to give up in our own lives to become the mothers God intends for us to be? We have to ask Him for guidance. Lastly, we have to show our children that God's love extends beyond ourselves. We must show our children that He SO loved the unloveable, the haters, the deniers; that all the people fall under the love of Christ. We must remind ourselves, so that, we can remind our children, that our Father's love reaches farther than our own. His love covers all. No one is too evil or too far away for His love. We cannot do so wrong that His love can't cover us. As far as the east is from the west, our mistakes, mess, sin, and transgressions are cast away when we bring them to Him. He SO loves us that much. We must "Show the SO." Prayer: Lord Father, thank You that I am SO loved. Father, my human mind can not even comprehend just how much love is wrapped up in that tiny little word "so". I ask that you teach me about Your love, show me again and again just how important the "so" matters. As a mother I know that You have trusted me with Your most precious, teach me how to show them Your great love. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
