Grab your Bible and come sit with me… let’s talk about what we really need with God. I don’t know why I neglect my time with the Lord!? I wake up, get ready for the day, load laundry, prepare breakfast and THEN I think... I should go pray and read my Bible. Most of the time my Bible and journal are in their bag, not this morning.
This morning as I was praying I asked the Lord to help my heart want to seek Him. Like, when my babies wake up in the morning and not long after I hear their footsteps they have found me. I then thanked Him for my many, many blessings and something struck me about having a receiving heart. I know I could pray with my hands open to receive gifts He rains down, but this morning I had a different posture. I prayed for Him to equip me. Even after 45 years I don’t feel fully equipped to do the work He calls me to do. My prayer was “Equip Me. Send Me.” I sat down and opened my Bible to read and it opened to Ezekiel 1 when he talks about his vision of God and the very odd sounding creatures with wheels in the sky and I was like... Lord! Really!? That small voice said..: keep reading. Keep reading. So I kept reading. Then in chapter 2 verse 1 it said “I am sending you.” The words jump off the page. “I am sending you to them.” “They will know that a prophet has been among them.” Okay Lord... “open your mouth and eat what I give you.” Oh Zeke he eats that scroll. He eats Gods word and it is sweet and sufficient. Then! Then! The Lord says “speak My words to them.” He equipped Ezekiel and then sent him. No way in the world did I know that my prayer would beget these versuses. I’m not proficient enough in God’s word. My question for you? Are you seeking out, eating up, devouring God’s word so you can go into this rebellious nation and speak TRUTH? I haven’t been. Don’t ever wonder why the world seems to be spinning out of control when those who love Jesus, won’t even seek His word for them. We aren’t filling ourselves with the Word of God. We are filling up with the world that rejects Him. What we really need from God may not be received through open hands, but working hands.
