Years ago my boys and I would spend a lot of time playing with play dough. It's recommended for ages 2 and over and really good for their fine motor skills. They are growing up and almost out of elementary school now but they still love it.

Christmas is nearing and I have way to much to do in the way of making gifts and I spent some mullah today buying trinkets and plastic charms and all kinds of tiny goodies and found a new store that I LOOOOOVEE! It's called...Tiny Things Are Cute. I'm seriously in love and I feel an addiction coming on. So, I'm getting prepared to make about 20 of these little suckers.
My boys have plastic crates to store their toys. They are just the right size and I can stack them, I love that. Recently I finished making covers for these crates and it was super easy. Here's how...
Oh how I love some vinyl wall lettering. I remember when I first discovered a beautiful company a couple of years ago that held parties at home. I scheduled a party and my consultant canceled and never rescheduled. BOOO! Since I only wanted some basic signs in my home I thought I would use an old skill I've used since high school.
A friend of mine and I started a ministry to help foster families and we were recently asked to represent at an event with a booth and a game for kids as the come around. We have our prizes for trying and hand major prize for winning but winning...well...we made it a little difficult. This game was attractive and fun and the kids loved it.
It was simple to make and I'll walk you through it. I saw this idea here and loved it. It was much easier to make than it looks and saved me TONS of money this year on gifts. I found these miniature wash tubs for 3/$1 and bought little hand towels to go with the soap 18/$4. I'll let Amy from The Idea Room tell you how it's done. My total cost for each gift was $2.22 per teacher.
This is a fun bag for anyone who is learning to sew and wants to make something super functional. The bag itself is easy to make and can be made in different sizes. It's one of my very favorites to make in almost any print or pattern.
I had this pattern saved from long ago from a sweet little blog called Wee Wonderfuls. You have to check out her other patterns. I went ahead attached her pattern below but you have to check out her adorable creations. It's been years and years since I made this little guy and gave it away as a gift. You will love making this one.
This has been one of the most favorited posts of mine on Pinterest in recent months. I had neglected to ever find the original pattern so I have been getting emails from readers need it. You're in luck, I've posted it below. Here's the original story behind the apron.
The last few weeks I have taken the time to do a few fun things with the boys. One of them that I wanted to share was how we made our own terrarium. I try to look at everything before I throw it away to see if it has a new life. This cookie container from the grocery store looked like a perfect container for the kids to make a terrarium.
Sometimes kids come up with the cutest ideas. How can we roast mini marshmallows? With the help of an adult, candle, toothpicks, and...
I was commissioned to do silhouettes for a couple that is getting married. She said she could think of 100 ways to use their silhouettes. Can you? I am super excited for them and just incase you are wondering what a before and after looks like...here's their before.
When I was trying to come up with some cute and very cheap party favors for the little pirates coming to the birthday party, I searched high and low and finally found some little items but I needed something to put them in. I remembered my little one coming home from church with a felt pouch they made to put stones in. So, I called on a friend who came through and brought me the left overs from the lesson and boy was I excited. These are super easy to make and take very little time and are PERFECT for giving away their favors in.
I LOVE thrift store shopping and these little shorts are exactly the reason why. The shorts were originally a boys 18 shorts, high quality, usually very expensive but I got them for around 25 cents.
Here's how: You're not going to believe this, but this little mixture refreshes our clothing, gets rid of stubborn mildew smells, works to remove detergent residue, reduces static and helps clothing to come out super soft naturally...
A dear friend shared an idea of writing something you are thankful for every week all year long on a little sheet of paper and putting it in a jar to reflect on at the end of the year. I immediately thought of how fun this would be for my kids but with a twist. A Jar a Full of StarsOnce upon a time I used paper stars in a jar as incentives for my first graders. They loved it when I handed them a little paper star for doing well. I could whip on up fast and their eyes would glow. The could keep them or add them to a jar we were filling for a party day or cupcakes for good behavior. This is a twist on the stars those babies loved.
This is one of my favorite patterns. I have made so many of these over the years for other and I still carry the one I made nearly 7 years ago for myself. I hope you enjoy this pattern.
A reverse appliqué and monogram was PERFECT for this pattern. Thanks Aimee for letting me share this quick and easy tutorial for window paint.
I am excited to be here! My name is Kristy Neeley and I have 4 kids aged 1, 2,4 and 6. We have a good time and they keep me busy! I also write a fun crafty, healthy, DIY blog at www.apronsandapples.blogspot.com . This particular project is very easy and you may already have all the supplies you need on hand. We had a lot of fun with this! I posted a really great bookshelf for the boys room. The instructions were SO easy that I thought I'd give it a go with barn wood I rescued to use in Jake's room. I figured his bed would be next but I suppose I was feeling too ambitious with that thought so a simple bookshelf would have to do.
We made this simple farmhouse style cornice board for a bedroom window using reclaimed barn wood. With a few simple details it was the perfect addition to this room. Let me show you how we made it...
oh. Precious naptime.
Our mornings are so busy cleaning, laundry, shuffling kids off to school, packing lunches and backpacks, appointments, and so much more. Back in the spring I invested in a bag of fabric flowers to help me out with matching hairbow a to outfits. As a first time girl mom I am learning how cute baby girls are with hair bows. Or as 1 of her 4 brothers calls them "bowbows". All these little flowers came sewn onto a fabric mesh they needed to be trimmed away. And here comes the the fun part... KAM snaps.
