For the past 6 weeks I have spent a great deal of time talking about the construction of our home and how just laying the foundation has been such hard work. The most important work actually. Clearing and digging. Blood sweat and tears. My family, my husband, and my daddy are all working hard to build this dream. A place of peace, to settle, to come home to, a place for my children to always find us, to find home. We are in the last week of September and it is still so hot. The kids are playing outside constantly. On Sunday's we stay inside more because there is so much work going on outside on the house. I have been trying to find more activities to do with the littles when they are inside to help encourage learning and exploring. PS. Do you see that tiny hand of that little girl above. I could kiss that little hand constantly She so stinkin' sweet. Even though, this week we should be celebrating Autumn it just doesn't feel like Autumn. The heat is relentless. Whatever the Lord is trying to bake, I'm pretty sure it's done. The thing about having two little ones around and being a mom with a background in education is, there needs to be education. I have so much going on in my world all the time that I find it to be a huge challenge to provide enough.. Then I remember that it doesn't take much for their to be "enough". I started with a shelf and cleared the food storage I was using for it and replaced it with wooden baskets. I just believe more and more that education should be more organic to the touch when they are this little. There's a warmth about natural materials that I can appreciate. Wednesday I took these two Little's to the local gymnastics center. They loved it! It was a couple of hours of whole body exercise for them. All this work made for an amazing nap time later too. Their absolute favorite was the rope swing into the foam pit. They're harvesting the cornfields down from us. I had just spent a good portion of my evening with Evan. I was listening to a sermon on podcast about Gideon. I watched as my boy leaned in to listen. This sweet guy may not always know when to stop talking but his uniqueness is what is setting him apart in the world. I love knowing that our God has a plan for this boy. I just don't think my Momma heart can dream as big as our Heavenly Father can. He has big plans for my Evan. He has so much to learn and experience on his journey though. I pray for so much protection and growth for this boy. We discovered a central vacuum system in our camper so I ordered new bags for it. It has made me feel so much better about cleaning. I don't like leaving a single crumb for fear of any bugs coming in to eat. I know they come in, I just don't want to give them any reason to live here. The Nora and Nunner are fascinated with it and beg to help. I took the kids to Camping World Saturday to get a new light fixture for the camper. We took down a pretty light that we kept banging our heads on and put in a low profile light. While I was there they fed my kids and give them drinks and entered me in their drawing. Basically, if you showed up you won something and I won a gift card for $24 that paid for my light, silicone caulking, and toilet paper. SCORE. I picked Jake up from a sleepover with a friend back home and we headed to the park. I was already exhausted and sore from my previous days workout. We walked about 4 miles in the Chickamauga Battlefield I made many attempts for a good group picture but it just wasn't happening. We had to hurry back home after our walk because Cooper had his first band competition later that evening and I didn't want to miss it. Especially, since it was taking place right down the road from us. Cooper is front and center in the middle of this picture.
The Ringgold Marching Tiger Band won Grand Champion for their performance. This band is absolutely amazing. The most amazing part to me though is that this young man only picked up the saxophone last Spring. He'd never played an instrument before or even knew how to read music. Not only is he excelling but he performs up to par with those who have played for years. He just simply amazes me. God certainly gave him something special. His Daddy and I are so very proud of him. This week has been quite uneventful. We spent much of the time waiting on the rain. Our mason's can't work if they can't get started. Week 7 is a wrap.
